The 2024 Ontario Building Code, effective January 1, 2025, mandates new construction to include a rough-in for a subfloor depressurization system to protect against radon and soil gas ingress. This means new homes will have the necessary pipes and granular material in place for a future radon mitigation fan, a significant step to prevent lung cancer caused by the invisible, odorless gas.
